Congress leaders detained, put under house arrest for fuel price hike protest

The Congress is holding symbolic protests across the country on Friday to highlight the problems the ordinary masses are facing due to the spiralling prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas.
Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and state Congress president DK Shivakumar were detained by the police in Bengaluru on Friday while they were taking part in the party's nationwide protest against fuel price hike. @AjayLalluINCpic.twitter.com/bIE4uxGoNR In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Lallu Prasad was put under house arrest before he could take part in the agitation, the party tweeted. The Uttar Pradesh Congress said, "This is dictatorship. Why should the police run the state?
