A meeting of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs and MLCs from Greater Hyderabad was convened by party working president K.T. Rama Rao to discuss the issues being faced by residents of the metropolitan city over the past one year.
The meeting was held at the residence of Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav. The issue of moving a no-confidence motion against GHMC Mayor G. Vijayalaxmi was also said to have come up at the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Rama Rao said Hyderabad was entangled in a series of crises for the past year. He said the city had now become a hub of challenges and hardships during the Congress rule, from being a symbol of progress and happiness during the BRS rule.
The party’s legislators highlighted the daily struggles faced by the residents over inadequate sanitation, drinking water shortage and others. Water tankers were appearing all over the city even before the onset of summer, they noted. They raised concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation.
Mr. Rama Rao said Hyderabad had experienced a golden era of development with remarkable IT growth, numerous initiatives such as Metro Rail, SRDP, SNDP and other infrastructure projects during the BRS rule. He alleged that the Congress government lacks the vision and will to maintain Hyderabad’s brand image.
He suggested the BRS legislators and other leaders of the party to demand immediate fulfilment of promises made by the Congress, including ration cards, housing and social security pensions for the poor.
