Confusion prevails over Covid death tally in Delhi as govt, municipality data does not match

There is confusion regarding the total number of Covid deaths registered in Delhi as the data provided by the state government and municipalities does not match.
Despite the dip in Covid cases, the number of Covid deaths in Delhi still remains a mystery as the data provided by the state government and the municipalities do not match. While all the crematoriums and burial grounds are under the three municipal corporations, the hospitals and mortuaries are under the Delhi government. The body count is done at the mortuaries as well as the Covid special crematoriums and burial grounds. According to the Delhi government’s data, 5,071 deaths were reported till April 30 and 5,391 deaths were reported till May 17. The rise in the number of deaths was reported during early April and on May 3, the number touched the highest of this year at 448. According to municipalities, in the months of April and May, the east MCD reported 3,441 Covid deaths, North recorded 8,095 and South MCD recorded 8,179 deaths at different crematoriums and burial grounds.More Related News
