Many families in Secunderabad who headed out for a Sunday evening trip were stalled in traffic across the Parade Grounds stretch as thousands flocked to the Mala Simha Gharjana meeting.
Some bikers were seen riding on the footpath to avoid the gridlocked Rail Nilayam road towards Sangeet signal. As desperate commuters pulled their mobile phones to check maps, the roads surrounding Parade Ground showed a deep red (meaning severe congestion).
Among the areas that saw long queues of vehicles clogging the roads were stretches from Panjagutta, Greenlands and Begumpet leading to Parade Grounds.
Tivoli X Roads and Plaza X Roads were closed, and major junctions like Chilakalguda, Alugaddabavi, Sangeeth, Patny and Trimulgherry saw heavy congestion.
