Common entrance exam for BSc Nursing in 2025-26, with streamlined admissions and focus on quality education.
There will be a common entrance exam for students who wish to pursue BSc Nursing from the academic year 2025-26, Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Y. Satya Kumar Yadav has said.
At a meeting with representatives from nursing institutes, held to discuss the streamlining of the management and admissions in nursing institutions, at the Dr. NTR University of Health Science in Vijayawada on Thursday, the Minister said for the past two years, the admission for the course was done through EAPCET and NEET. “But, from 2025-26 academic year, a BiPC student has to clear the common entrance test as well,” the Minister said.
For this to happen, the admission process had to begin in April and end by July, and should not extend till November, he told the representatives of nursing institutions from 13 districts. He added that a Board of Examinations too would be formed.
Colleges offering BSc Nursing courses see an admission of around 13,000 students every year. This is for the first time that the State will conduct an entrance exam for the three-year course.
When the representatives expressed concern at the annual course fee for the BSc Nursing and General Mid Wifery courses, which they claimed was too less, the Minister assured them that a decision would be taken in this regard.
The representatives also demanded a comprehensive Government Order for establishment and management of nursing colleges.
Regarding various complaints that the department came across, the Minister made it clear that there should be no room for compromise under any circumstances on the establishment of nursing educational institutions and the provision of quality education, and that the government would act strictly in these matters.
