The Delhi Government has decided to shut down colleges and coaching centres in view of the recent spike in active COVID-19 cases, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia who also holds the education portfolio said in an online interaction with students on Saturday. The Minister also has announced that the remaining Class 9 and Class 11 exams in Delhi Government schools have been postponed at least till April 20 and new dates will be declared soon. Mr Sisodia was responding to questions through a social media platform. When asked about the CBSE practical exams, the minister said: “We have asked the heads of schools to talk to the CBSE examiners and move the dates of the remaining CBSE practical exams forward. Schools have been asked to defer the remaining practical exams till April 20 for now.” There were questions regarding the presence of teachers during the period of closure of schools and colleges in Delhi. Mr Sisodia announced that there will not be any centralised directive in this regard and schools will take a call on whether teachers will have to report at the school for online classes, or conduct their classes remotely. “We have left the decision to individual schools, the principals and staff bodies to decide on whether teachers should be called to school or not. Schools can decide whether teachers will conduct their online classes from school or home, or whether they require a limited number of teachers at school, Mr Sisodia said.More Related News
