COIMBATORE Coimbatore Vizha, which saw a host of events held across the city for nine days, conclude
Coimbatore Vizha, which saw a host of events held across the city for nine days, concluded on Sunday with a marathon.
A press release from the organisers said the “Vanga Kondaadalaam” invite was accepted and about 1,000 people came together to #NammaooruRun or #Vangaodalaam. As the part of final day of Coimbatore Vizha, the marathon was held at Nehru Stadium and the participants ran under three categories - the half marathon or the 21.1-km run was flagged off by Captain Vijay Singh, Officiating Commanding Officer, INS Agrani, the 10-km run was flagged off by Senthil Valavan, Director, Coimbatore International Airport and the final category saw runners opting for the five km walk or run. It was flagged off by Raja Gopal Sunkara, Commissioner and Special Officer, Coimbatore Corporation.
The Coimbatore Vizha, this year, had laser light and sound show at Valankulam, heritage walks, Art Street, Sangamam, etc. It celebrated the water bodies of the city and nearly 70 organisations hosted about 100 events in different parts of the city.
