Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) price in the national capital and adjoining cities was hiked by Rs 0.50 per kg on Tuesday. The CNG price in NCT of Delhi has been increased to Rs 57.51 per kg from Rs 56.51, according to the information posted on the website of Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), reported news agency PTI.
The development comes when an imminent increase in petrol and diesel price has been put on wait-and-watch mode for more clarity on global oil prices. IGL has been raising CNG rates by up to 50 paise (Rs 0.50) per kg periodically following the firming up of international gas rates. The prices for CNG have gone up by about Rs 4 per kg this year alone.
CNG will be Rs 1 per kg more expensive in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad, adding to the brunt of customers and the revised rates in these regions is Rs 59.58 per kg.
However, the rates vary from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes. The price of CNG is constant in Mumbai at Rs 66 per kg. Furthermore, IGL has revised the price of piped cooking gas supplied to household kitchens.

The prices of petrol and petrol are likely to be increased this week as companies prepare to trim the losses accumulated from keeping the rates steady for over four months in the run-up to assembly elections in the five states.
An increase in petrol and diesel prices, which was expected after the ending of the multi-phase polling in Uttar Pradesh, was not affected on Tuesday.
