Speaking in context of the police brutality against the K-Rail project protesters, Union minister V Muraleedharan alleged that CM Pinarayi only spoke to the upper class when it came to projects. He called the government actions regarding K-rail ‘shameful’.
Union minister V Muraleedharan has alleged that Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan only speaks to the upper class when it comes to projects. This statement was in response to the police cruelty against protestors during the survey and stone laying for the K-Rail project in Chanaganacherry on Thursday.
Women protestors were manhandled by male police officers during the protest and this has drawn widespread criticism.
“The government speaks about equality. How will this attack on women be dealt with? The CM is saying that the project is for people. Who are the people he is referring to?" asked the minister.
Calling the CM a dictator, he also said that the actions of the government regarding K-Rail are shameful.
"The railway has only given permission to prepare DPR, not anything else. The CM is conveying wrong information to the public. We will not allow any project to happen by stomping on the people," added the minister.
The opposition party, UDF, also staged a protest on Friday in the Kerala assembly regarding the police brutality against the K-Rail protesters. The opposition raised placards and stepped down to the centre of the assembly.
The speaker responded saying that it's against the rules of the assembly to use placards and banners inside it. He also said that disrupting the question hour was not acceptable. However, the opposition refused to back down and return to their seats.
