Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has released a first-of-its-kind encyclopedia on tribes in the state. The Odisha CM released all five edited volumes of the encyclopedia on Monday.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday released a first-of-its-kind 'Encyclopedia of Tribes in Odisha' at the Museum complex in Bhubaneswar.
CM Patnaik unveiled all five volumes of the encyclopedia published by Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI) and Odisha State Tribal Museum.
A press note released by the CMO revealed that the edited volumes contain 3800 pages and 418 research articles covering all 62 ST communities and 13 particularly vulnerable tribal groups.
Expressing happiness over such a rare and impressive publication, the chief minister said that this book will certainly be a great treasure and repository for all the academicians, researchers, policymakers and those interested in knowing about the tribal communities of the state.
ENCYCLOPEDIA OF TRIBES IN ODISHAThe 418 articles in the Encyclopedia have been published in the Adivasi journal and other publications over the last six decades. The editing, compilation and republication of the book have been carried out over the period of the last four years by professor A.B. Ota, director of SCSTRTI, and his consultant S.C.Mohanty.

Notably, the tribal museum has a very rare type of collection of exquisite arts and crafts of tribal communities and is regarded as one of the best interactive ethnographic museums.
