Classes to be online only for one week from Sunday: Ministry

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education on Friday announced that, for one week starting from Sunday January 2, there will be online classes only for school students. The Ministry said it is applicable to all public and private schools and kindergartens in the country. That is part of the precautionary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 and to maintain the safety of students, as the number of community infections of the disease have considerably gone up in the recent days, the Ministry added.This decision comes in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), and in accordance with the precautionary and preventive measures required for the public interest, said the Education Ministry in a tweet. The step is to ensure the safety of students, teaching and administrative staff, and to facilitate Coivid testing. During the one week period, the administrative and teaching staff are to continue to attend schools and kindergartens. The Ministry called on parents to cooperate and to ensure that their sons and daughters attend the online classes.
