CII IGBC recognizes leaders in green building revolution, emphasizing sustainable practices for a cleaner, energy-efficient future in India.
The Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) recognised key figures spearheading the green building revolution across India. The event, held on the occasion of World Earth Day, celebrated individuals whose efforts have contributed to the nation’s progress in sustainable building practices.
C. Shekhar Reddy, National Vice Chairman of CII IGBC, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the role of the building sector in achieving global goals for clean electricity, particularly the target to triple clean energy by 2030.
Mr. Reddy revealed that IGBC had registered over 142 new projects in 2025, covering more than 875 million square feet across 14 sectors. This brings the total number of IGBC-registered projects to over 15,800, spanning a remarkable 13.56 billion square feet. This surge signals a growing commitment across India’s building sector to adopt sustainable practices.
“Buildings must evolve from being mere energy consumers to becoming energy producers, integrating renewable energy technologies and reducing our reliance on external resources,” Mr. Reddy remarked.
