Christian Eriksen, who has playing for Premier League side Brentford, has been picked in Denmark squad for their friendlies against Netherlands and Serbia in March.
Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen has returned to the national squad for the first time since he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch at Euro 2020 last year. Eriksen has been picked in the Denmark squad for their friendlies against the Netherlands and Serbia later in March.
Eriksen had collapsed on the pitch during Denmark's Euro 2020 opener and was given CPR on the field before he was moved to a hospital wherein he recovered. Eriksen's contract with Inter Milan was terminated by mutual agreement last month because he is unable to play in Italy after being fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.
However, Eriksen returned to competitive football after signing for Premier League club Brentford earlier this season. He had trained with former side Ajax Amsterdam to build up his fitness after getting the go ahead from doctors to return to football in December last year.
"Christian is in a pretty good physical condition," Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand said.
"I saw him against Burnley last Saturday where he was the best player on the pitch. He is a player who thinks faster than most people do."
Denmark will play a friendly away against the Netherlands on March 26 and hosts Serbia on March 29 as they prepare for the World Cup in Qatar in November.
