Chiyaan Vikram is inarguablty one of the biggest names in the Tamil film industry. The versatile actor, who has been an integral part of Kollywood since the 1990s, enjoys a strong fan following due to his dashing screen presence and humble nature. Now, here is some big news for movie buffs. Vikram's long-delayed film Cobra is finally set to hit the screens later this month. Director R Ajay Gnanamuthu announced the release date on Instagram. Cobra is an action thriller, produced by S S Lalit Kumar.

COBRA GETS A RELEASE DATE

Chiyaan Vikram, last seen in the Karthik Subbaraj-directed Mahaan, is set to return to the big screen much to the delight of his die-hard fans. Cobra. which marks his first collaboration with director R Ajay Gnanamuthu, will open in cinemas on August 31. The Imaikkaa Nodigal director shared the release date on Instagram with a new poster. Cobra is an action-thriller that features Vikram in nearly 20 different avatars. The cast includes KGF actress Srinidhi Shetty, Miya George, Roshan Mathew, Sarjano Khalid, and Mirnalini Ravi among others. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan plays the antagonist in Cobra. The film marks his acting debut. Cobra has reportedly been shot on a budget of Rs 90 crore. It will be distributed by Red Giant Movies, the banner behind films such as Mankatha and Don.

Chiyaan Vikram, meanwhile, is busy with Mani Ratnam's latest magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. The film has garnered a fair deal of attention with its visually-appealing teaser. The film has a star-studded cast that includes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala, among others. Ponniyin Selvan is slated to open in theatres on September 30.
