Chitra Ramkrishna: NSE CEO to fallen queen of stock market

In a further trouble for Chitra Ramkrishna, the Income Tax Department on Thursday raided the premises of former NSE MD and CEO. Ramkrishna is being investigated for allegedly making illegal financial gains by sharing internal confidential information of NSE to an unknown person.
Recently, the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board (Sebi) slapped Rs 3 crore on Ramkrishna for irregularities in the appointment of Anand Subramanian as Chief Strategic Officer.
Ramakrishnan had reportedly clarified, saying that she was being guided by a ‘yogi’ who lives in the Himalayas. She was directed to pay the penalty within 45 days.

Chitra Ramkrishna was among a group of executives who in the early 1990s started NSE as a challenger to the more established BSE Ltd, then known as Bombay Stock Exchange, according to a Reuters report.
She was appointed joint managing director of NSE in 2009. Later in 2013, she was promoted to CEO, the Reuters report says.
Ramkrishna was ousted from NSE in 2016 for her role in the co-location and algo trading scam and abuse of power, PTI reported.
