One of the passengers, caught in the Jharkhand ropeway accident, unwittingly taped the moments leading to the tragedy on his phone. The video of the accident captured how the two trolleys crashed into each other 1,500 feet above the ground and the spine-chilling cries for help of those trapped.
At the beginning, nothing is out of the ordinary. The video shows the panoramic view of the Trikoot hills, lush greenery all around and a city far, far away. Voices in the background sound ecstatic.
The next second, almost without a warning, a massive jolt shakes the phone, blacking out the video. However, the phone continued to record. Blood-curling cries took over the previous excitement. The tourists, men, women and children, suddenly stare at horrifying death.
The Sunday joyride turned into a deadly experience for the 50 odd people stuck in the trolleys dangling midair. Many were injured in the collision and one even died.
