Chicago parents say they are caught between the teachers union and school district as classrooms close for third day
CNN
Chicago Public Schools will be closed for a third day Friday as school officials and the teachers union remain at odds over whether it's safe to return to in-person learning, frustrating some parents who feel they and their students are stuck between both sides.
The district tweeted Thursday evening that some schools might offer "in-person activities for students" on Friday, but parents shouldn't send a child to school without hearing from their principals first.
The rift between the nation's third-largest school district and its teachers union echoes a debate playing out across the country amid a Covid-19 surge fueled by the Omicron variant: When and how should students return to the classroom?
