Brittany Benson, a Chicago mother of three children who has trouble seeing, will no longer be able to depend on her 15-year-old son to help her get around after he was killed in a shooting on Wednesday, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.
Benson's story is one of many tragic episodes that are playing out across Chicago on a daily basis. There have been 1,827 shootings in Chicago so far this year, a 10% increase over the same time in 2020. On Wednesday alone, Benson was one of 18 people who were shot in the city, highlighting a rise in violence against children as 97 kids 15 years old and younger have been shot in 2021, according to a Chicago Sun-Times analysis.More Related News
