Doha: Ace Qatar duo, Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, have booked their place in the Paris 2024 Games, securing a third consecutive beach volleyball berth in the Olympics for the country, the Qatar Volleyball Association has announced.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze medalists, Cherif and Ahmed have qualified for the Paris Games, thanks to their impressive world ranking. The former world No.1 pair, Cherif and Ahmed are currently ranked 12th in the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) standings for the Paris 2024 Olympics, with a total of 8560 points.
In a statement released yesterday, the Qatari Volleyball Federation confirmed the team’s direct qualification for the Olympics.
“The team’s qualification has been approved by the International Federation, making Qatar one of the countries that have directly qualified for the Olympics from the global Olympic ranking,” the statement read.
Under the unwavering support of the Qatar Volleyball Association, beach volleyball has been on the rise over the years, with Cherif and Ahmed highlighting Qatar’s success on the global stage.
