Chennai school teacher arrested for sexually harassing students

A school teacher in Chennai was arrested for sexually harassing his female students. Police said he would touch them inappropriately and send obscene texts.
A 45-year-old government school teacher in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Wednesday for sexually harassing his girl students.
The man is a chemistry teacher working at a government school in Chennai. According to the police, he gained access to the contact details of the students after conducting online classes during the lockdown.
He then started sending objectionable messages to his female students. A few of the students complained to their parents, who then registered a complaint at the all women police station in Mogappair. He was later arrested under the POCSO act.
According to the police, he had sent obscene messages to students, touched them inappropriately and had sexually harassed children. The police added that this has been happening since March.
