Chennai Police to meet Zomato executives for explanation on 10-minute delivery service

Zomato’s recent 10-minute delivery announcement has caused concern for the Chennai Police. A meeting will be set up with Zomato officials, which will be headed by the Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, to seek an explanation on Zomato’s 10-minute delivery.
The recent announcement by Zomato that 10-minute deliveries will be available soon has created a stir and several critical comments have also been made on how this would add pressure on the delivery executives.
The Chennai Police has now said that they will be calling regional Zomato representatives to seek an explanation about their new service of delivering food in 10 minutes.
The issue was discussed at the Chennai Police Commissioner's daily meeting. A decision was made to seek an explanation from Zomato as to how the safety of the delivery agents would be ensured. A meeting will be set up with Zomato representatives to discuss this.
Chennai Additional Commissioner, Traffic, will be heading the meeting with Zomato and the meeting will be scheduled soon. Police sources say that a considerable number of traffic violations are committed by the food delivery agents due to the existing delivery pressures.
