Chennai police have slapped a case of land grabbing against ex-AIADMK minister Jayakumar. He was accused of threatening a landowner and grabbing land worth Rs 5 crore at a cheaper rate. This is the third case against him since his arrest on February 21.
Chennai police filed a case of land grab against former AIADMK minister Jayakumar on Friday, February 25. This is now the third case filed against the former minister since his arrest on February 21. He was arrested for attacking a DMK cadre.
According to the complaint, Jayakumar had threatened a landowner and purchased a property worth Rs 5 crore at a cheaper rate. Based on this, Chennai police filed a case against Jayakumar, his daughter and his son-in-law.
Due to the fresh case, Jayakumar's stay in prison has been extended until March 11.
This is the third case filed against Jayakumar. He was arrested on February 21 for attacking Naresh, a DMK cadre, forcing him to disrobe and parading him on the road. A video of the entire incident went viral on the Internet.
On Wednesday, February 23, Chennai police slapped another case on the AIADMK minister. They filed a case of protesting without permission on February 19, the voting day in the Tamil Nadu urban local body polls.
AIADMK and BJP cadres held a protest in Chennai against Jayakumar's arrest. Edapadi K Palaniswami led a protest in Salem where he condemned the arrest, calling the act ‘revenge politics’.
