Chennai police have arrested a man who was sitting with a blood-stained shirt at a bus stand on Saturday, March 19. When they questioned him, he confessed to killing his lover.
As per a report by The Times of India, a patrol team at Kundrathur in Chennai saw Raja (38) sitting on the road at around 1 am, with blood stains on his shirt. When they approached and questioned him, he took them to a house where a woman was lying half-naked with stab injuries.
Raja identified the woman as Kannamma, his lover for the past 5 years. She was living in a rented house and worked as a casual labourer at a private company.
Police said that Raja came to her home on Saturday night in a drunk state and compelled her to have physical relations with her. She refused, which resulted in a fight between the two. A drunk Raja forced her to sleep with him and a loud argument ensued.
According to the investigating officer, some neighbours who heard the woman’s cries intervened and sent Raja away from her house. Later that night, Raja returned after everyone had slept, locked her up inside the house and stabbed her to death.
Based on his confession, Kundrathur police arrested him, registered a case of murder and remanded him in judicial custody.
