Jewellers in Chennai would partially close shops on Monday as part of protesting against Bureau of Indian Standards’ (BIS) decision of on the , gold traders said on Sunday. According to city-based jewellers, the new hallmarking process requires gold retailers to obtain Hallmarking Unique ID (HUID), a six-digit code for every piece of hallmarked gold sold.
