Chennai custodial death case transferred to CB-CID

The custodial death case of a 25-year-old Chennai man was transferred to the CB-CID on Friday.
The probe into the alleged custodial death of Vignesh, a 25-year-old Chennai man, was transferred to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) on Friday.
Vignesh died on Wednesday, April 20, after he reportedly suffered seizures and started vomiting while in police custody. He was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
Vignesh and Ramesh (alias Suresh) were taken to the police station after they were caught while travelling in an autorickshaw with ganja in their possession. Officials said that both of them had injury marks on their faces and possessed a knife as well. They even tried to flee when officials tried to arrest them.

A few hours after they were taken to the station, Vigensh developed seizures and was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.
On Wednesday, Vignesh's body's postmortem was done in front of a magistrate at the Government Kilpauk Medical College.
The body was later handed over to Vignesh's brother, Vinoth. The family was prevented from speaking to the media.
