SN Pradhan, Director General of the NCB, said that a chargesheet has been filed against 14 people accused in the Mumbai cruise ship drug bust. He added that an additional chargesheet could also be filed in case fresh evidence comes to light.
The Director General (DG) of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), SN Pradhan, said that out of the 20 people accused in the Mumbai cruise ship drug bust case, a chargesheet had been filed against 14 people. He said that the chargesheet has been filed against 14 only because of proof beyond reasonable doubt.
He added that there was always the possibility of filing a supplementary chargesheet in case any fresh evidence comes to light.
The NCB didn't find any sufficient evidence against the remaining six people. Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, was among the six people. The NCB said that it wasn’t able to gather sufficient evidence against Aryan and that he didn’t have any drugs in his possession.
“There were some loopholes in the initial investigation. Because of that, action was taken against a few officials in the past,” said the NCB DG.
"The State Investigation Team has done a good job in this matter and followed the Supreme Court's principle," said SN Pradhan.
The NCB DG also said, “The first team made a mistake in the investigation. We will not get it done on that basis. If the first investigation team did not make a mistake, then why would the SIT take over the investigation? At least, further action ensured that it was taken care of.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, who was arrested in connection with the Mumbai cruise drugs case in October 2021, was given a clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on May 27.
