A special court on Tuesday framed charges against Jharkhand BJP General Secretary Nagendra Tripathi and nine others for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2014 state assembly polls.
A special court on Tuesday framed charges against Jharkhand BJP General Secretary Nagendra Tripathi and nine others for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2014 state assembly election. The case will now head to trial.
The case of violation of the code of conduct pertains to election campaigning in Bokaro district's Tenughat and involves BJP's state unit president Deepak Prakash, former Gomia MLA Madhav Lal Singh, besides Nagendra Tripathi. The case is being heard by a special MP-MLA court in the Dhanbad Civil Court.
While canvassing in Tenughat ahead of the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly polls, the administration had registered a case of violation of the Model Code of Conduct against 10 people including Jharkhand BJP in-charge Nagendra Tripathi, state president Deepak Prakash, former Gomia MLA Madhav Lal Singh.
At that time, Deepak Prakash was not a member of Rajya Sabha. When Deepak Prakash became a member of Rajya Sabha, the matter was transferred to Dhanbad special MP-MLA court. In this case, all the accused appeared in the court.
