A chance of flurries is on tap for Toronto after a snowy Monday night, and the snow could stick around long enough for a white Christmas.
Several centimetres of snow fell in the city Monday, prompting Environment Canada to issue a winter weather travel advisory which has since lifted.
The national weather agency is forecasting a 30 per cent chance of flurries or drizzle to start Tuesday morning, with an expected high of 1 C and a low of -4 C.
Mainly cloudy conditions will persist throughout the day, with a risk of freezing drizzle overnight and winds up to 15 km/h.
Speaking to CTV News Toronto previously, senior Environment Canada climatologist David Phillips said Tuesday’s flurries will “refresh that white look” left in Monday’s wake to pave the way for what is expected to be a white Christmas.
"It's not something that is always a sure thing," Phillips said at the time. "In the last 10 years, there have been seven green Christmases and only three white ones…This year, it's in the bag."
A white Christmas is defined by having at least two centimetres of snow on the ground.
