Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said that he overthinks in the UEFA Champions League ahead of the quarter-final game against Atletico de Madrid at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
Premier League defending champions Manchester City will face La Liga defending Champions Atletico de Madrid in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
Manchester City finished runners-up in the UEFA Champions League last season, losing to Chelsea in the final. Over the years, they have been knocked out in the last 16 and quarter final stages. In 2020, they were knocked out by Lyon.
Atletico de Madrid have reached the final of the UEFA Champions League twice in the last ten years, in the 2013-14 season, and the 2015-16 season, losing both to rivals Real Madrid.
Man City manager Pep Guardiola said in his press conference ahead of the game that he tends to “overthink” in the Champions League.
"In the Champions League I always overthink -- new tactics, tomorrow you will see a new one. I overthink a lot, that's why I have very good results in the Champions League," Guardiola told reporters on Monday.
Guardiola hinted at playing “incredible tactics” in the first leg, and said that it would be boring to play the same way always.
"It would be boring if I always played the same way. If people think I play the same against Atletico and Liverpool, I don't like (that).
