Centre took 'escape route' to bypass discussion on fuel prices in Parliament, says Opposition
India Today
After Parliament was adjourned sine die on Thursday, Opposition parties are now accusing the central government of using an "escape route" to avoid a discussion on the rising prices of fuel and other commodities.
The Opposition on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the central government after both houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die despite repeated demands for a discussion on the rising prices of commodities.
A total of 12 government Bills were introduced and 13 Bills were passed during the Eighth Session of the Seventeenth Lok Sabha.
In addition, 62 reports by parliamentary committees were tabled in both houses of Parliament during 27 sittings that lasted approximately 177 hours and 50 minutes.

The House also sat for an additional 40 hours during this session to discuss important issues.
On their part, the central government orally responded to as many as 182 Starred Questions, while MPs raised 486 matters of public interest before the House under Rule 377 during this session.
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary claimed that it was agreed during a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee that a discussion would be held in the lower house on the Russia-Ukraine war and the hike in fuel prices.
