Celebrations on hold, but ‘josh’ high: What’s happening inside Assam hotel hosting rebel MLAs?
India Today
After the Supreme Court stayed the disqualification proceedings against the 16 rebel MLAs, including Eknath Shinde, till July 11, the mood in the rebel camp has been high. Take a look at what is happening inside the hotel.
The rebel Eknath Shinde camp has been on a high since they have gathered the support of two-thirds of the Shiv Sena legislative party, and the numbers keep swelling.
Meanwhile, in a big relief to the Shinde sena, the Supreme Court on Monday put an interim stay on disqualification proceedings against 16 rebel MLAs till July 11. Sources within the rebel camp told India Today that after the apex court judgement, the mood in the camp has been high.
According to sources, there were plans afoot to burst firecrackers inside the hotel to celebrate the win along with calling the Marathi media, camping with the rest of the jamboree outside Hotel Radisson Blu in Guwahati, to capture the celebrations. However, their plans were set aside.

There was another reason for celebration as the hotel has now been cooking some Maharashtrian dishes for them after they requested “ghar ka khana” .
39 Shiv Sena MLAs and nine other MLAs, including two from Prahar Janshakti Party have been staying at Guwahati’s posh Hotel Radisson Blu since they landed in the city last Wednesday in a private charter from Surat.
The rebel MLAs, including leader Eknath Shinde, had reached Surat after staging a coup against the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction. They had gone ‘out of reach’ following the announcement of legislative council poll results on June 20, where the BJP managed to win all the five seats it contested. On the other hand, the NCP-Shiv Sena of MVA won two seats each and Congress one seat, proving to be a major setback for the ruling government in Maharashtra.
