
CBI searches Karti Chidambaram's Chennai home in bribe-for-visa case

A CBI team reached Karti Chidambaram's house in Chennai on Saturday to carry out search operation.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday reached Rajya Sabha MP P Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram's house in Chennai to carry out a search operation.
During the last searches by CBI, one of the cupboards of Karti Chidambaram’s wife was sealed as she wasn’t there during the operation.
As she has returned, CBI is completing the process now.
Earlier, Karti Chidambaram was allegedly involved in facilitating visas to Chinese workers for the Talwandi Sabo Power Limited project in lieu of a bribe of Rs 50 lakh, said sources. This came as CBI conducted multiple searches at the homes and offices of Karti Chidambaram in connection with a fresh case, his office told ANI.
Searches were conducted at nine locations, including three in Tamil Nadu, three in Mumbai, one in Punjab, one in Karnataka and one in Odisha.
Searches were conducted for a fresh case registered by the CBI in an alleged foreign remittances case which took place between 2010 and 2014. Earlier, a preliminary enquiry was conducted by CBI which has now been changed into an FIR.
