CBI makes one more arrest in Bengal education scam case

The CBI has made one more arrest in the Bengal education scam case. The accused will be produced before Alipore court on August 27.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on late Friday arrested one more person in the multi-crore West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC). The accused will be produced before Alipore court on Saturday.
The central probe agency had registered a case against the then convenor of the five-member committee of WBSSC and others on the allegations of illegal appointment of assistant teachers.
Earlier, the CBI had arrested one 'private person' in connection with the case.

The CBI had on August 10 arrested former SSC adviser Shanti Prasad Sinha and its ex-secretary Ashok Kumar Saha, who were part of a five-member panel formed in 2019 by the state education department.
Chatterjee and his alleged close associate Arpita Mukherjee were earlier arrested by the Enforcement Department (ED), which is tracking the money trail in the scam.
