
CBI arrests middleman in 'cash for transfer' probe involving Anil Deshmukh

The CBI on Sunday made its first arrest in a probe involving former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, who has been accused of demanding cash in exchange for approving the transfers of senior police officials.
Santosh Shankar Jagtap, an alleged middleman, has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the corruption case lodged against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, officials told India Today.
Making it the first arrest in this case, Santosh Shankar Jagtap was taken into custody by CBI officials from Maharashtra's Thane on Sunday morning.
