CBI arrests ICICI bank manager for accepting Rs 50,000 as bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two bank officials for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant availing a home loan facility.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested a branch sales manager of ICICI Bank, Bhuteshwar branch, Mathura and a sales executive for demanding and accepting Rs.50,000 as a bribe.
A case was registered against the accused arrested on the basis of a complaint. The complainant had availed a home loan facility of Rs 10 lakh from the ICICI branch in Bhuteshwar. The bank initially handed the first phase of the loan amount of Rs 3.04 lakh.
However, the branch sales manager demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant for further disbursement of the remaining loan amount. The manager directed him to hand over the bribe to an outsourced employee working in the ICICI Branch as a sales executive.
CBI officials laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the bribe. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to the recovery of incriminating documents.
Both the arrested accused were produced before the Special Judge, CBI Court,Ghaziabad and were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
