
CBI arrests Himachal Pradesh HC judge’s daughter in Sippy Sidhu murder case

The CBI on Wednesday arrested the daughter of a Himachal Pradesh High Court judge in connection with the Sippy Sidhu murder case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Kalyani Singh, the daughter of Justice Sabina Singh, a Himachal Pradesh High Court judge, in connection with the murder of Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu. Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu was shot dead in Chandigarh on September 20, 2015.
According to a statement released by the CBI, it had registered a case on the matter on April 13, 2016 at the request of the Chandigarh administration. The name of the accused came up in the investigation and she was arrested accordingly.
A CBI spokesperson told PTI that the accused was produced in the Court of Special Judicial Magistrate, Chandigarh on Wednesday where she was remanded to four days in police custody.
Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu alias Sippy Sidhu was a national level shooter and corporate lawyer. He was shot dead by unidentified individuals in a park in Sector 29, Chandigarh on September 20, 2015.
Four bullet marks were found on his body. The forensic examination had confirmed that there were four bullet marks on Sidhu's body and two different weapons were used to kill the shooter. No bullet shell was recovered from the spot.
His murder was followed by nationwide outrage and protests.
