Cuttputlli is the official remake of 2018 Tamil film Ratsasan, which starred Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul in the lead. The Hindi version stars Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh. Bankrolled by Pooja Entertainment, the film released on Disney+ Hotstar. The psychological crime thriller is directed by Ranjit M. Tewari. The music of the film is composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Dr Zeus and Aditya Dev. The background score is composed by Julius Packiam.
In the movie, Akshay plays the role of Arjan Sethi, the dutiful sub-inspector who took an oath to keep the people of Kasauli safe. However, fate has other plans as the killer strikes from the shadows of terror, leaving behind no trace of evidence, except a body.
Bachchhan Paandey, which released on March 18 this year, is directed by Farhad Samji and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi. It is an official remake of the 2014 Tamil film Jigarthanda which itself was inspired by the 2006 South Korean film A Dirty Carnival. The storyline of Bachchhan Paandey followed Myra Devekar, a budding director, who was given a task by a producer to come up with a gripping and violent gangster story. To satisfy the producer's commercial outlook and her hunger for making a realistic flick, she decides to study the life of a real-life gangster for the script. Her extensive research leads to menacing one-eyed Bachchhan Paandey of Baghwa, a ruthless gangster surrounded by quirky yet scary henchmen.
Ajay Devgn's 2015 thriller film was directed by Nishikant Kamat. The film is a remake of the 2013 Malayalam-language film of the same name. The film was jointly produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajit Andhare and Abhishek Pathak. Alongside Ajay, it starred Tabu and Shriya Saran in lead roles, and Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav in supporting roles as daughters. The film was theatrically released in India on July 31, 2015. It grossed Rs 938.5 million in India and a worldwide total of Rs 1,110.5 million worldwide.
Ek: The Power of One is a 2009 action thriller film starring Bobby Deol, Nana Patekar and Shriya Saran. It is a remake of the Telugu-language film Athadu, which released in 2005. The story revolves around Nandu, an orphan turned assassin, whp somehow gets wrongly accused of a politician's murder and is on the run. On his escapade on a train, he meets Puran, who is homebound after eighteen years, they get chatting, and Nandu finds all about his joint family and the wedding of Puran's sister that he is going to attend.
The Hindi remake of the Tamil film Ratsasan was launched in Mussoorie earlier this year. Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh, who play the lead roles in the film were spotted at St George's College and Barlow Ganj's main market in Mussoorie. The original film starred Vishnu Vishal, Amala Paul and Saravanan. The Hindi remake of the Tamil film Ratsasan is built around a psycho killer, who makes young girls his victims and repeatedly escapes from the police.
