
Casino owners summoned by probe agency ED on Monday in forex violation case

Casino owners Chikoti Praveen Kumar and Madhav Reddy have been accused of facilitating gambling trips for influential Indians and violating forex laws.
The Enforcement Directorate has summoned casino owners Chikoti Praveen Kumar and Madhav Reddy on Monday for questioning in connection with a case of forex violation. The financial probe agency has also summoned the four Hawala operators who were raided on Thursday.
Chikoti Praveen Kumar has been accused of organising gambling events in Goa and neighbouring countries - Nepal, Bangkok, and Sri Lanka, for high-profile Indians who would pay him in cash. Kumar would distribute tokens for use during gambling sessions against this money.
Chikoti Praveen Kumar had organized at least seven trips recently - each trip flying out around 200 people on chartered flights for gambling in other countries, the agency said, adding that Kumar’s clientele also included several politicians and high-profile individuals who used the services of Chikoti Praveen Kumar.
Kumar would also allegedly invite actors to his events, including Nora Fatehi, Mallika Shehrawat and Ameesha Patel.
A number of politicians and actors will be summoned soon by the ED in this case.
