Former OnePlus CEO Carl Pei’s Nothing is soon going to launch its first phone. The phone, dubbed as Nothing Phone (1), is now speculated to arrive as early as June. The product page, which does not reveal much about the upcoming smartphone, is live on Flipkart. Previously, Pei had revealed that Nothing Phone (1) will be powered by Qualcomm’s system-on-chip and will run Nothing OS on top.
“Having raised $144M, built a team of over 300 people and secured support from trusted partners like Qualcomm Technologies, Inc, we are ready for Phone (1) to mark the start of change for the sleepy smartphone market,” Pei had said at an event.
Now Pei seems to have revealed the launch date of the smartphone, albeit informally. In response to a tweet asking about the India launch date, Pei said, “6/9 at 4:20.” Although he did not divulge any other information about the phone, his tweet could mean that the Nothing Phone would launch on June 9, 2022 at 4:20 pm, as per US date format.Nothing much about the launch event was revealed. The company is also yet to officially announce the launch date of the Nothing phone.
While the Carl Peo-led company has not shared any information related to the phone, a new leak had shared the specs of the phone on Twitter. As per tipster Raghvendra Singh Jadon, Nothing Phone (1) will feature a 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with support for 90Hz. The device will come with HDR10+ certification with support for sRGB colours and the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
The smartphone is speculated to be powered by the Snapdragon 778G SoC. The processor has already been used in phones like the Vivo T1 Pro 5G, the iQOO Z6 Pro 5G, Realme GT Master Edition and iQOO Z5 5G.
The Nothing Phone (1) is expected to feature a triple camera setup on the rear which might include a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a 2MP macro camera. In the front, there could be a 32-megapixel camera for selfies. The smartphone is expected to house a 4500 mAh battery and will likely support fast charging. It may also include support for wireless charging technology.
