A car was reportedly towed in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow even as the occupants were sitting inside the vehicle. An inquiry has been ordered after a video of the incident was shared multiple times on social media.
The driver of the car, Sunil, and his friend had gone to collect some stuff at Janpath in Hazratganj. Reportedly, while the duo were talking about what to get, a tow-truck arrived at the spot and started towing the car away, despite the occupant still present inside the car.
According to rules, if a person is sitting inside a car parked in a no-parking zone, then the vehicle should not be towed.
The video of the incident was shared several times on social media, following which the Lucknow Municipal Commissioner ordered an inquiry.
Municipal Commissioner Ajay Dwivedi said that the cranes are operated by a contractor, who has been given a 1-year contract.
After the incident, the Lucknow authorities have banned operation of all cranes. Further action will be taken following an investigation into the incident.
