Canada says its sanctions are in line with actions taken by the European Union and the United States.
Canada’s foreign ministry says it is imposing new sanctions on nine Russian officials over “gross and systematic violations of human rights in Russia”, prompting the Kremlin to vow a response against Canada. Global Affairs Canada said on Wednesday the sanctions were part of a diplomatic effort to pressure senior Russian officials over “the attempted murder” and detention of prominent critic Alexey Navalny, and the treatment of citizen protesters.More Related News
