Calling Laal Singh Chaddha boycott Right Wing trolling is preposterous: Experts debate

Laal Singh Chaddha continues to be on the receiving end of online flak even after the film's release. It stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead.
No respite for Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha even after the film's release. During a special segment on India Today TV, a panel comprising actress Tanishtha Chatterjee, film critic Raja Sen and analyst Shubhrastha spoke about Bollywood's cancel culture, online flak that Laal Singh Chaddha received and more.
During a special segment about Laal Singh Chaddha on India Today Television's To The Point, actress Tanishtha Chatterjee said, "Bollywood needs to introspect in terms of the content it is making. The cancel culture might be affecting the box office to a certain extent because social media is a powerful tool. It does affect and dissuade people. I personally know people who have read things on the web and dismissed it. I think the audience has an absolute right to decide whether to watch a star or a story or a film. They should be able to make a conscious choice of their own. In some ways, the cancel culture is not always allowing them to do so. I find hate and cancel culture very funny."
She further added, "I think we take entertainment too seriously. It is entertainment. You like the actor, you like the story watch it, go and watch it. You don't like it, don't watch it. This is fighting like 7-year-olds. I am worried about other things than just Bollywood. We have so much animosity inside the nation we are constantly fighting about Right Wing and Left Wing and Middle Path. It's taking everything out in our lives. The boycott culture has something to do with something that he apparently said a few years back. It has a demarcated line, we know that."
She also said, "There are people who think in a particular, and other people who different way. I think both the thoughts should exist and exist in a healthy way. Sometimes we agree and sometimes we do not agree with the actor. We can say, 'Hey, I disagreed with the comment of the actor. Now, when the film is coming out, why is that reference coming out? It should be purely on the basis of trailer and the film."
