In an exclusive interview with India Today, former Meghalaya chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that the decision of 12 Congress MLAs to merge with the TMC was a "long-drawn" exercise.
The decision to merge with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) was a "long-drawn exercise", former Meghalaya chief minister Dr Mukul Sangma said. Sangma, along with 11 other Congress MLAs from Meghalaya, resigned from the party before merging with Mamata Banerjee-led TMC on Wednesday.
Twelve of the 17 Congress MLAs, including Dr Mukul Sangma, met Mehtab Lyngdoh - Speaker of the Meghalaya Assembly - on Wednesday to submit a letter declaring their intent to join the TMC.
