Ranking third was LASD Lt. Eric Strong, who received 13% of the votes, while the other candidates did not break into the double-digit percentages: Retired LASD Assistant Chief and current LAX Police Chief Cecil Rhambo received 8%; LASD Sgt. Karla Carranza received 5%; Retired LASD Capt. Britta Steinbrenner received 5%; Retired LASD Capt. Matt Rodriguez received 4%; Retired LASD commander Eli Vera received 4%; and coming in last was State Parole Agent April Saucedo Hood with 2% of the votes.
Unlike most running, Luna does not have any previous ties to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.
