Calgary police say additional sexual assault charges have been laid against a senior who worked as a volunteer sponsor helping families immigrate to Canada.
Robert Edward Choquette, 83, of Calgary, was charged with three counts of sexual assault in November after he allegedly sexually assaulted newcomers he was assigned to help through a local organization.
On Tuesday, police announced two more victims had been discovered.
One of the victims alleged Choquette leveraged his position as a volunteer sponsor to take advantage of their immigration status in order to commit sexual offences.
The second victim alleges Choquette repeatedly physically assaulted him in 1967 when he was a student and Choquette was a teacher.
Choquette's new charges include four counts of sexual assault and one count of criminal harassment.
He was also charged with three counts of wounding/assault causing bodily harm under the 1967 Criminal Code.
