Bypolls to one Assembly seat each in Odisha, Kerala and Uttarakhand will be held on May 31, the Election Commission announced on Monday. The results will be declared on June 3.
With the announcement of the bypolls, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the constituencies concerned.
The constituencies are Brajrajnagar in Odisha, Thrikkakkara in Kerala and Champawat in Uttarakhand. A notification regarding the bypolls will be issued on Wednesday, the Election Commission said.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami will contest the election in Champawat constituency.
In the 2022 state assembly election, Dhami had lost from Khatima seat in Udham Singh Nagar district. In order to retain his chief ministership, he has to be re-elected to the Assembly.
Hence, BJP MLA Kailash Gehtodi resigned to vacate the Champawat seat last month.
