'Bulli Bai' row: Activist files police complaint in Hyderabad against harassment of Muslim women

Parveen filed a complaint with CCS, Hyderabad police demanding the arrest of culprits involved in the online harassment of Muslim women on an app called 'Bulli Bai'.
Hyderabad-activist Khalida Parveen on Monday filed a complaint against the online harassment of Muslim woman that has come to light in the "Bulli deals" controversy. Parveen filed a complaint with CCS, Hyderabad police demanding the arrest of culprits involved in the online harassment of Muslim women on an app called 'Bulli Bai'.Cybercrime police station of Hyderabad police has taken cognizance of online harassment and auction of Muslim women on ‘Bulli deals’.The matter was also raised by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi. The AIMIM chief has requested Telangana Chief Minister KCR, his son minister KTR and the DGP to take action after a few journalists and activists raised complaints about the harassment of Muslim woman on the app.Owaisi took on Twitter and wrote, "FIR is not enough they should be arrested, the government should avail the services of CI cell & Anti Radicalisation dept of the force."Photos of hundreds of Muslim women were uploaded on an app called 'Bulli Bai' on the open-source platform GitHub, which led to massive outrage on Twitter.A journalist, who is one of the women named in the app, claimed that the app would collect photos of Muslim women from their social media accounts and encourage people to participate in their "auction".The cyber cells of Delhi and Mumbai Police, too, have taken cognisance of the matter. Information and Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government was working with police in Delhi and Mumbai on this matter.
