The police in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor used a bulldozer to help a woman enter the house of her in-laws after she was thrown out over dowry.
Bulldozers have been making the news for a while now during demolition drives in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and other parts of the country. During such drives, the mood is generally of grief and rage as illegal structures are razed. However, this time the machines brought a smile as the police used them to ensure that a woman was allowed to enter her home by her in-laws. She was thrown out over dowry demands.
Despite the court's order, a family in Bijnor was not ready to allow their daughter-in-law to enter the house. The police tried to convince the family for nearly two hours, but when they did not relent, the police brought in a bulldozer and warned them of breaking the gate. That is when the in-laws allowed the woman to enter.
The woman, Nutan Malik, was married to Robin Singh five years ago. From the start, the woman was abused and tortured by her in-laws over dowry. In 2019, Nutan filed a case after which her husband was sent to jail, but she was also thrown out of the house by her in-laws.
After this, the woman's father knocked on the doors of the high court for justice, following which the police were directed to give her protection and get her back to her in-laws' house.
After failing to convince the family to take the woman back several times, the police finally went with a bulldozer and threatened to break the gate. Following this the woman was allowed to enter the house.
