A Public Interest Litigation was filed before the Calcutta High Court, seeking a central agency probe into the exponential rise in the assets of relatives of Mamata Banerjee in recent years.
Mamata Banerjee today instructed the Bengal chief secretary to investigate her properties and bulldoze them if any illegalities are found. The chief minister was addressing a press briefing at the state secretariat when she was asked about the accusations leveled by opposition parties about the wealth acquired by her and her family members.
If her family members get a notice from any of the central probe agencies, she would fight them legally even though it is a tough thing to do these days, the chief minister said, reported news agency PTI.
“You have said that we have illegally acquired government lands. So I have instructed my chief secretary to find out if any land has been acquired illegally. If you find such land just use bulldozers on it,” Banerjee said. A Public Interest Litigation was filed before the Calcutta High Court, seeking a central agency probe into the exponential rise in the assets of relatives of Mamata Banerjee in recent years.
“I have come for social work in politics. If I had seen this kind of politics earlier, I would have taken renunciation. They are saying all the money from coal is going to Kalighat. Where in Kalighat? Tell me? Cattles Catles come from other states. Whatever help they want, I am willing to give. These are all the Home Minister’s responsibility. One cannot fool all people all the time,” she said.
Her comments came after the ED issued a fresh summons to her nephew and Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee to appear before the agency on Friday in connection with its ongoing investigation into the coal smuggling scam.
