D. Veerendra Heggade emphasizes alcohol de-addiction for a better society, earning accolades and blessings through selfless service.
Pattadhikari and Honourary President of Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruthi Vedike Trust D. Veerendra Heggade on Friday, January 10, said building an addiction-free society through alcohol de-addiction is a laudable and pious service.
Chairing the trust members from accross the State who attended the annual general meeting at Dharmasthala, Mr. Heggade said wit the selfless service of Vedike members in their mission for de-addiction, the Vedike has earned accolades from everyone. He said those who come out of alcohol addiction through Vedike’s programmes, visit Dharmasthala and have the darshan of Sri Manjunathaswamy, they would get special blessings of the almighty. When they lead a life of contentment sans any addiction as members of Nava Jeevana Samithi, he feels happy and satisfied, Mr. Heggade said.
Inaugurating the meeting, Hemavathi V. Heggade said human resources have been the precious wealth of the nation and urged the youngsters not to fall prey to alcohol or any other addiction to vices. She said many families across the State were leading a peaceful life following de-addiction camps conducted by the Vedike.
Nataraja Badami from Hagaribommanahalli was chosen as the next organising president of the Vedike while the outgoing president Rajanna Koravi was felicitated.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development project executive director S.S. Anil Kumar, Vedike Trust Secretary Vivek V. Pais and others were present.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the death of contractor, Sachin Panchal, who allegedly ended his life in Bidar on December 26 last year, arrested five persons, including the prime accused Rajkumar Kapnoor, a former member of the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike, and reportedly a follower of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Priyank Kharge, on Friday.
